Singapore AH-64Ds to Get New EW Suite

Other report says the latest helicopter design is similar to the Israel Defense Forces AH-64D-I Saraf. (photos : kementah)

Singapore will upgrade its fleet of Boeing AH-64D Apache attack helicopters.

The work will involve installing a helicopter integrated electronic warfare system (HIEWS), says Singapore's defence ministry. This will improve survivability and satellite communications.

The defence ministry has not named the supplier for the new equipment, but says the project is expected to be completed "over the next few years".

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that Singapore operates 17 AH-64Ds with an average age of 12.2 years. It originally obtained 18 Apaches, but one was lost in a September 2010 crash.

  6. Wakil Presiden Amerika Serikat (AS), Mike Pence, sedang berkunjung ke Indonesia.

  7. Why Singapore put the AH-64 Apache into Air Force?
US and Indonesia put the Apaches into their Army, not their Air Force.

Is it different strategy or tactic?

    1. Singapore generally prefers to focus on the roles of the service since apache is an airplatform it is operated by the airforce plus it is easier as part of the tactic since the airforce have the ability to maintain and operate it so its much easier if the army were to operate it they will need to train pilots of their own and create and airfield plus service crew for themselves. So it is easier and cheaper to operate for its respective service of course integration is important as apache normally supports ground forces for the us part so it is easier for the us army to operate it. For singapore it is focus on integration where the 3 services fight together and collaborate so the army, navy and airforce trains together for large scale exercises like wallaby in Australia hence increasing effectiveness as they fight as one in joint operations. It is also part of the 3rd gen SAF as a full spectrum networked force which replaced the 2nd gen saf which was to developed joint capabilities
